The French Minister of Culture has appointed Toufic Maatouk the prestigious Chevalier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres for serving the culture at the highest level.
A ceremony was held at the Antonine University in Beirut where the director of the French Cultural Institute Sabine sciortino on behalf of the French Republic bestowed Maestro Maatouk the knightood for his very high cultural advantages as a musician and educator who contributes to the dissemination of classical music in Lebanon through the Beirut chants Festival, the Antonine University Choir and the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra and the construction of cultural bridges between Lebanon and France.
The ceremony was attended by various figure of the lebanese musical scene.
