Swiss conductor of Greek origin, Georgios Balatsinos conducted at renowned festivals and concert halls such as the Athens Festival (Norma/Greek National Opera, 2019), the S. Niarchos Concert Hall (Greek National Opera 2018-19), the Athens Megaron Concert Hall (Athen State Orchestra, 2017-20), the Berliner Philharmonie (Berliner Symphoniker 2016), the Wiener Musikverein and the Konzerthaus Wien (2015) etc.

Georgios has worked with artists such as Carmen Giannattasio, Dimitris Tiliakos, Kyrill Trousov, Latica Honda-Rosenberg, Christina Poulitsi, Wolfgang Boettcher, Nobuko Imai, Armin Bachmann and Francesco Nicolosi. He has also worked with directors such as Carlus Padrisa (Norma Athens Festival 2019), Barrie Kosky (Magic Flute Greek National Opera 2018), Mirko Mahr (SNE Bautzen 2022), Guido Zamara ( Turandot, Centro Busoni, Empoli 2024).

In his home country Greece, he has conducted the Greek National Opera and some of the most important Greek orchestras; In addition, he has conducted orchestras throughout Europe, including Berliner Symphoniker (Germany), Opera Wuppertal (Germany), NOSPR (Poland), Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana (Italy), Sinfonica di Milano (Italy), Czech Chamber Philharmonic, Hofkapelle Meiningen (Germany), Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz (Germany), Orchestre Philharmonique de Nice (France), Opera Wroclaw to name just a few, as well as in Hungary, Bulgaria or Lithuania.

Outside Europe he has conducted Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra and Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra in Russia and National Arts Orchestra in Canada.

He is the winner of several international conducting competitions, including in Bucharest (2018), Belgrade (2019), Brescia (2018) and Berlin (2016). As an active student, Georgios took Part at numerous international master classes with D. Zinman, P. Eötvös, G. Rozhdestvensky, G. Gelmetti, M. Jurowski, N. Järvi and Johannes Schlaefli. He is also a finalist of the 15th Conductor workshop “Interaction” of the Critical Orchestra Berlin with leading musicians including the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Staatskapelle Berlin and the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden.

Georgios has received extensive training in violin, viola, composition and conducting (Ralf Weikert, Vittorio Parisi) at the music academies of Detmold, Geneva, Bern, Lucerne and Milan.

Georgios Balatsinos was Chief Conductor at the SNE Musiktheater in Bautzen, Germany, from 2022 to 2024 and he is Permanent Conductor at the historic Wrocław Opera House since 2024.
