This year Maestro Caldi will be conducting again Orchestra and Chorus of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic – in the city of Białystok – between May and June 2024. Pagliacci by Ruggero Leoncavallo and Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni will be on stage, directed by Michał Znaniecki.
The famous dipthyc was already announced last year. What’s new about this production? The famous operas will both be performed in the original version edited by the German house Baerenreiter in collaboration with Casa Musicale Sonzogno. One act, no Prologue or Intermezzo for Pagliacci, as it was originally. In Cavalleria Rusticana on the other hand, there will be no cuts, but, instead, important additions of four fragments hastily cut off at the time of the first staging and also some other details that were saved from the only surviving version of the manuscript.
The premiere will be staged on May 10th and the other performances will be on May 11th, 12th, 25th, 26th and June 8th, 9th, 15th, 16th.
