Alessandro Marangoni was awarded the special prize at the International Classical Musical Awards 2023 for his impressive work on Gioacchino Rossini.

Marangoni is the only Italian, with Antonio Pappano and the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, to have obtained this prestigious recognition.

On April 21st, the pianist will perform in the ICMA Gala at the Wroclaw Forum, an event that has been sold out for weeks, at the opening of the awards evening. It will be broadcast worldwide in five languages by Deutsche Welle, German radio and web TV. With the Wroklaw Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Maestro Giancarlo Guerrero, Marangoni will perform the Andante spianato and the Grande Polacca brilliant op. 22 by Chopin.

Naxos label completed in November 2021 the impressive CD release of ”Gioacchino Rossini – Complete Piano Music – Péchés de vieillesse”.

Rossini’s project is the fruit of ten years of work with 13 rare recordings of the Péchés de vieillesse. It also contains twenty unpublished pieces found by Marangoni himself at the Rossini Foundation and in some private collections. The album in question is today the only complete collection in the world of all of Rossini’s chamber music.

“I must admit – he explains – that curiosity and my love for Rossini was an irresistible journey to the source, Pesaro, then the Rossini Foundation and the Rossini Opera Festival. This important award gives me even more courage to continue on this path and on the importance of putting yourself at the service of music to give something beautiful and new to everyone”
