Last week M.to Neil Thomson was in Guadalajara (Mexico) to conduct the Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco in two concerts for its 2020 first season.

The programme which has been performed was very interesting:

RAVEL, Ma Mere l’Oye
ALEXEY SHOR, Travel Notebook
SANTORO, Symphony No. 5

Two pieces were new for Guadalajara: Shor’s piece has been performed thanks to the cooperation of the European Foundation for Support for Culture while Santoro’s one has been suggested from M.to Thomson himself. He declared:

It was wonderful to see, even at the first rehearsal, how the musicians reacted to this piece: there was an immediate connection. Great music has no borders…Extremely happy that I could bring Santoro to Mexico.”

The contemporary pieces has been well appreciated by the audience and the young talent pianist Huiping Cai made an encore of Travel Notebook.

Here below some photos and video of the events.
