The Karol Szymanowski Quartet announces the arrival of Gustaw Bafeltowski, an extraordinary representative of the younger generation and recently appointed principal cellist of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. This appointment represents a significant boost to the quartet’s activities and marks a truly new stage in its artistic journey.
The highlight of the upcoming season, along with Gustaw, will be the world premiere of the “Symphony of the Four Elements” by Guillaume Connesson, one of the most esteemed contemporary composers. The symphony, dedicated to Maestro Krzysztof Urbański and to the quartet, was jointly commissioned by three prestigious orchestras: the Berner Sinfonieorchester, the Warsaw National Philharmonic, and the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana. The premiere will take place in Bern on November 27th, 2025, followed by concerts in Warsaw in December and Lugano in March 2026.
This project represents the culmination of the Karol Szymanowski Quartet’s 30th anniversary celebrations!
